Rebecca Piper

Rebecca Piper was born and raised in Brisbane, Australia. Interested in art from a young age she excelled in her art studies throughout school however didn’t pursue it until her late 20’s.
Rebecca moved to Canada in 2012 and by 2014 was working for Arts Whistler, this exposed her to numerous opportunities for creative and professional development. During her time in Whistler, she worked predominantly as a self-taught artist, taking small workshops, drawing in local groups and experimenting with mark-making, abstract, pop art and landscapes.
In 2017 Rebecca returned home to Brisbane to study visual arts and has since developed an interest in sculpture and ceramics. Her work has predominantly focused on natural elements, gaining inspiration from her love of the outdoors however recently she has been experimenting with feminist and political ideas. Using abstraction and mark-making as a way to reflect on her thoughts and experiences.
